CLEANING/SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
To ensure trouble-free operation, the following procedures provides for proper operation and adequate air-flow.
READHEAD-MAGNETIC
Frequency: At least once a month under ideal conditions. Perform more often if the reader is subject to high
concentrations of airborne particles (i.e. grease or dust), or has a greater than average use.
Materials: Magnetic Cleaning card Important: Never reuse a cleaning card.
Compressed air
1. Using the compressed air, blow out the entire length of the card slot area to remove any loose particles.
2. Open the cleaning card package. Remove the cleaning card and immediately swipe through the vertical
slot with the wet side facing to the right, away from the display window.
3. Swipe the cleaning card through the badge slot several times (10 or more) to clean the read head. A
noticeable dark stripe on the active surface indicates an extremely dirty read head. This indicates cleaning
should be performed more often.

dirty (dark streaks or blotches) repeat the cleaning process stated above using a new cleaning card.
