Aphex Aural Exciter Plug-In Guide
14
Successful use of the SPR depends on the charac-
ter of the original sound. It is hard to predict in
advance what will be the effect of the SPR. Typ-
ically, you may find it useful about 50% of the
time. At other times, there will be little or no dis-
cernible effect. Seldom does the effect damage
good audio, so it could be left on as a matter of
course. A few examples of audio material likely
to be helped by the SPR are:
• Highly overdubbed tape tracks
• Live acoustic recordings
• Electronic keyboards
• Productions composed from tape cartridge
and cassette sources
• Material recorded with transformer cou-
pled mic preamps
• Vocals recorded with dynamic micro-
phones
• Reverberant live sound or recordings
• Highly equalized material
• Delayed, flanged, or digitally processed ma-
terial
• Material from broadcast audio reception
(such as store casting and muzak)
