TCUsequippedwithlaterversionPCM2cards(postMarch2012units)havetwofrontpanelRJ45Ethernet
connectors.ThelowerconnectorisusedforconnectionfromthePCMcard,viaasmallCAT5jumper,totheTCU
frontpaneltouchscreenminiPC.Thesecond(upper)RJ45connectorisavailable
andcanbeconnectedviaEthernet
cabletoalocalcomputer.ThisconnectiondoesnotrequireacrossovercableandtypicallyhasanIPaddressof
192.168.2.100.
InordertousethePCMcardRJ45connectorsforaccessthelocalcomputermustbesetupwithstaticIPaddressthat
isinthe192.168.2.xxfamily .
2.20.1.2 TCUEthernetAccessProcedure
STEP 1 ConnectanEthernetcablebetweentheRJ45connectoratthetopofthe
transmitterrackandtheexistingnetwork.
STEP 2 TheTCUwillautomaticallyobtainanIPaddressifDHCPhasbeenenabledon
boththeTCUandthenetwork.Otherwise,manuallysetanappropriatestatic
IPaddressviatheHome>System>Service>Networkmenuonthefrontpanel
touchscreenandconnectcomputerdirectlytoEthernetport
ontopof
computer.
STEP 3 TypetheTCUIPaddresshttp://nnn.nnn.nnn.nnnintotheaddressbarofa
webbrowsertocontacttheTCU,wherennn.nnn.nnn.nnnistheaddress
appearingatthebottomoftheHomescreenorcanbefoundatHome>
System>Service>Networkonthefrontpaneltouchscreen.
Note
Some network switches utilizing secure connections will require the MAC address to be given to the switch
to allow traffic to pass to and from it. The MAC address can be found at the top of the Home > System >
Service > Network page.
STEP 4 Whenprompted,loginusingusernameandpassword.TCUsthatcontainthe
PCM2card(postMarch2012)musthaveusernamesandpasswordsetupby
theuserlocallypriortoestablishingaremotewebbrowserconnection.The
usernameandpasswordsetupprocedureisoutlinedin
Section3.2.2onpage3

TheULXtr ansmitterfamilysupportsmonitoringandalarmingfunctionalityviaSNMP(SimpleNetworkManagement
Protocol).Basiccontroloftheequipmentispossibleafteractivationintheequipment.SNMPversionsV1andV2c
andV3areimplemented.
ThissectionassumesagoodworkingknowledgeofnetworkingandSNMPconnectivity.Theinformationcontained
hereisnotmeanttoteachnetworkingorhowtosetup/operateanetworkmanagerapplication,butmerelyprovide
theinformationnecessaryforanetworkadministratortoconnectandoperatetheULXtransmitterusingtheSNMP
connection.
