STEP 1 Fillsystemwithdistilledwater.
STEP 2 Runsystemforapproximately20minutes.AlternatepumpsAandBfor10
minuteseach.
STEP 3 Drainsystem.Drainvalvesmustbeopenedateachlowpointinthesystem,
alongwiththeventvalvesatthesystemhighpoints,toensurefulldrainage.
STEP 4 Repeatabovesteps(flushes)untilcoolantisclearofcontaminantsand
detergentresidue.Typicallytwoorthreedistilledwaterflushesareneeded.

2.12.7 FinalCoolingSystemFill
Caution
THE SYSTEM MUST BE TESTED FOR LEAKS AGAIN ONCE THE REQUIRED
50/50 GLYCOL/WATER MIXTURE HAS FILLED THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. A
GLYCOL/WATER MIXTURE WILL EXPOSE SMALL LEAKS WHICH ARE NOT
EVIDENT WHEN TESTING FOR LEAKS WITH PURE WATER OR AIR.
STEP 1 Chargethecoolingsystemwithequalamountsofcoolantandwater.The
amountofresidualwaterinthesystemmustbetak enintoaccountwhen
addingglycolandwatertothesystem.Theamountofresidualwater(water
thatremainstrappedinthesystemandcan’tbereadilyremovedby
opening
drainvalves)andwillvaryfromsystemtosystem.Theamountofresidual water
canbeestimatediftheamountofinitialfillwaterwastrackedandcomparedto
theamountofre‐fillwaterrequiredduringtheflushing.Iftheamountof
residualwaterissignificantandisignored
theconcentrationofcoolantmaybe
lessthanthespecified50/50mixture.Extraglycol,equaltotheamountof
trappedwaterinthesystem,mustbeaddedinordertoachievetheproper
glycolwatermixture.
STEP 2 Runpumpsforseveralminutesandopenautomaticventvalves(inpump
moduleandsystemairpurgers)toremoveallairfromthesystem.Alternate
pumpsAandB.
STEP 3 Addadditionalcoolanttothesystemasrequired.Frequentlycheckthestatic
pressureofthecoolingsystemwiththepumpsdeenergized.Thestatic
pressureofthesystemwilldropasthetrappedairisbledfromthesystem.The
coolingsystemmustbechargedwithcoolantmixturetoapressureof
15psig.
STEP 4 Rechecksystemforleaks.
STEP 5 Repeatsteps1through4untilcoolantlevelandstaticpressurehavestabilized.
STEP 6 Checksystemsighttubetobesurethatallairhasbeenventedandthe
systemisfullofcoolant.Drainasampleofcoolantfromthesystemandcheck
the50/50mixture.Useaconventionalfloathydrometerandajar(f orethylene
glycolonly)oraMISCODFR200or
equivalentdigitalrefractometertoverify
the50/50mixture.Thehydrometershouldbecapableofmeasuringspecific
gravityinthe1.02to1.08range.Informationregardingspecificgravity
measurementisgiveninAppendixB.
