The heat exchanger shown in Figure 1-14 is configured for horizontal air flow .The two fans pull air
through the cooling coil/fins (not visible in the photos) and exhaust it parallel with the ground. Figure 1-
15 shows a unit configured for vertical air flow. The exhaust in the vertical air flow unit is upward. HE
version heat exchangers can be mounted for horizontal or vertical air flow depending on how the legs are
attached to the heat exchanger.
1.2.9.2.1 HeatExchangerFanControl
Multicabinettransmitterswilltypicallyhaveone heatexchangerandcontrolpanel/pumpmoduleperPAcabinet.
Thefansarecon trolledelectronicallyandenabledwheneverthepumpmoduleisconnectedtothetransmitterwith
powerapplied.Fanspeedsarecontrolledbythepumpmoduleinvertercontrolsandwillincreaseautomaticallyas
coolant
temperatureincreases.Coolingfansdonotactivateuntilthecoolanttemperaturerisesabove30
o
C.
1.2.9.2.2 PumpOperation/ControlLogic
Pumpoperationisautomaticallycontrolledusingtwoinvertercontrollers(oneperpump).Therearetwomodesof
pumpoperation,"LOCAL"and"REMOTE".Thepumpmodulecommunicateswiththetransmitterviathepump
controlinterface(PCI)locatedintheTCU.ThepumpcontrollerreceivesandsendssignalstothetransmitterPCI.
With
"LOCAL"selectedastatussignalissenttothePCIreportingthemodeselection.
Iftransmitterissettoautomaticpumpswitchmode,thelossofflowcausesactivationofthestandbypump.

Note
Four pump switches in less than five minutes will cause both pumps to shut down and require operator
intervention to restart.
1.2.9.3 PAModuleandCombinerColdPlates
EachPAmodulehasaliquidcooledcoldplatewhichconnectstothecoolingsystemwithquickreleaseconnectors.
Therearealsocoldplatesinsidethecombiner(s)andsplitter(s)towhichalloftheinternalcombiner/splitterreject
loadsareattached.See

identify which PA modules slots are used depending on model.
