Installationofthetransmitterbuilding,antennatuningunitifapplicable,andantennashouldbedonesothatthe
riskofdestructionduetolightningisminimalandtheefficiencyoftheoverallsystemismaximized.Todothis,
separategroundsystemsshouldbeinstalledforthebuildingandantenna.This
forcesalloftheRFreturncurrentsto
flowinthetransmissionlineshield.Thecoaxcanbeburiedbelowtheantennagroundplanetostillfurtherreduce
theRFcurrentcoupledtoit.
Inmediumandshortwaveinstallationstheantennagroundplaneisveryimportantasitisoftheradiatingelement.
RFcurrentleavingtheantennamustreturnviathegroundpath(groundwave).Forthisreasonthe“antenna
couplingunit”mustbeclosetothebaseofthetowerandsecurely
connectedtothegroundplane.
