a.1 Suggested Cutting And Soldering Procedure
ThepurposeforthisprocedureistoprovideguidelinesforfieldcuttingandsolderingofRFtransmissionlineusedto
interconnectthetransmittertotheRFsystem.
Trytocutandflangethelongestpiecesfirst.Completeonerunatatimeinordertoavoidaccumulatederrors.(i.e.:
Cut,solder,andhanglinefromantennaportofbandpassfiltertopatchpanel.Thencut,solder,andhanglinefrom
theamplifieroutputtotheinputportof
thebandpassfilter.)

a.2 Line Cutback and Flange Soldering Procedure
1. Determinetheflange‐facetoflange ‐facelengthofthetransmissionlinerunneeded.
Iftherunincludesanelbow,seeFigurea‐1todeterminetheelbowlength.
2. Subtracttwicethecutbackdimensionoftheflange.Thisdimensionvarieswithflangemanu‐
facturer.SeeFigurea‐2.
3. UsingoneofthesuggestedmethodsforcuttingthelinegiveninSectiona.3,cuttheouter
conductortothelengthjustcalculated.
4. Ifholesintheouterconductorareneededfordirectionalcouplers,tuningpaddles,etc.they
shouldbeaddednowwiththeholesproperlydeburred.
5. UsingthesuggestedtechniquesforinstallingtheflangesgiveninSectiona.4,solderaflange
toeachendoftheouterconductor.
