6.1 Introduction
ThissectioncontainsdiagnosticandtroubleshootinginformationfortheULXseriesUHFtransmitter.Includedisa
descriptionoffaultswhichcanbedisplayedviathetransmitterfrontpanelTCUdisplayorwebGUI(GraphicalUser
Interface).Duetothecomplexityofthetransmittercontrolsystemandtheextensiveuseofsurface
mount
components,thescopeofthisdiagnosticssectionistoisolatetheproblemsdowntoaPCboardormodule,which
canthenbeeasilyexchanged.
TheGUIbuttonsandiconsuseasymbolandcolorcodesystem.Someexamplesusingthetriangleshapearegiven
below.Theothershapesoperatesimilarly.
a. Greenwitha1‐ ‐ONandoperatingnormally.
b. Greensymbol‐ ‐ONandoperatingnormally.
c. LightGray‐ ‐"GrayedOut"‐Notcommunicatingornotavailable.
d. Yellow‐ Warning‐Anon‐criticalsub‐systemorparameterisout
oftoleranceandshouldbeaddressedbyengineeringpersonnel.
e. Red‐ ‐CriticalFault‐Thiscouldbeasub‐systemfaultinwhichthesub‐systemismutedorshutoff
(suchasaPAModule)orcouldbea systemlevelfaultwhichcouldmuteorshutthetransmitteroff.
WhenafaultoccursoneormoreoftheLED’sontheTCUwillilluminateRED.Totrackdownthecauseofthe fault,
beginbylookingattheTCUHomescreenandthesoftwarebuttonsalongtherightsideasshownin

6.2 EventLog
TheGUIcontainsaneventlogwhichisalistingofevents,warnings.andfaultswhichhaveoccurred.Toseetheevent
logpressSYSTEMthenEVENTLOG.Thiswillbringupthescreenin

information:
a. #‐Thisgivesthenumberofthefault.Therecanbeupto1,000faultsintheeventlog,thenitisFIFO(First
IN,FirstOut).TheTCUeventlogcanbeviewedinitsentirety,printed,orexportedbydoubleclickingonthe
webbrowserscreeneventlisting.
b. Set‐Time(24 hourformat)anddate(month,day,year)thatthefaultoccurred.
c. Clear‐Timeanddatethatthefaultwascleared.Ifthefaultisstillactive,theClearfieldwillbeblank.
d. Name‐Nameanddescriptionofthefault.
e. ActiveorInactive‐Ifthefaultishighlightedinred,itisstillactiveandcannotbecleared.Ifthefaultisnot
highlighted(gray),thenthefaultisgoneandcanbeclearedifsodesired.Yellowhighlightindicatesan
activewarning.

a. CLEARLOG‐Willeraseallinactivefaults,warningsandeventsinthelog.
b. NEXTandPREV‐Thesebuttonsallowyoutoscrollthroughtheentirefaultlistifnecessary.
