5.14.6 TCUCardReplacement
ShoulditbecomenecessarytochangecardsintheTCUusethefollowingprocedure:
STEP 1 GototheSystem>Service>VersionscreenandnotetherevisionlevelsofthePCMand
MCMcardsiftheyaregoingtobechanged.
STEP 2 Turnoffthetransmitteranddisconnectpowerfromthetransmittercabinetor
disconnecttheACplug(s)fromtherearoftheTCU.
STEP 3 Usethefingerholecutoutsbui ltintothesidesoftheTCUfrontpanelashandles,pull
outwardanddownonthefrontcover.
STEP 4 RemovefourrackmountingfastenersfromtheeachsidesoftheTCUfront.
STEP 5 PulltheTCUchassisoutoftherackasfarastheslidesallow.
STEP 6 TheTCUcanbepivoteddownwardforeasieraccesstothecards.Thisisdoneby
removingthefrontscrew(shownin
figure535)oneithersideoftheTCUslide
brackets.
Warning
THE TCU MUST BE SUPPORTED WHILE REMOVING THESE SCREWS TO KEEP IT
FROM FALLING DOWNWARD RAPIDLY.
STEP 7 RemovetheTCUcovertogaineasieraccesstotheTCUcards.
STEP 8 Removeconnectorsfromtherearofthecardthatisbeingchanged.
STEP 9 Useashort#2Phillipsscrewdrivertoremovethemo untingscrewfromthebackof
eachmodule(nearthebottom).
STEP 10 Lifttheboardoutoftheslotandreplacewithnewboard.
Note
If the MCM card is changed the flash drive card should be removed from the old board and installed in the
new board. This will allow the system to retain previously stored calibration values.
STEP 11 ReversethestepstoreconnectandreinstalltheTCU.
STEP 12 TurntheTCUonandafterbootup,verifythatthesoftwareonthenewboardisthe
sameaswasontheboardthatwasremoved.

Followtheinstructionsgivenin5.14.6onpage543forTCUcardremoval.
TheMCMcardintheTCUcontainsseveraljumpers,acabinetselectorswitch(S1rotary),andatoggleswitchusedto
selectVT100orDNLDinputs.ShouldtheMCMcardneedtobereplacedthefollowingjumpersshouldbesettothe
samevaluesastheoriginalboard.Bluejumper
settingsthatshouldbecheckedare:
JP1 12
JP2 12
JP4 23
JP5 12
JP6 12
JP7 23
JP8 23
RotarySwitch(CabinetIDS1):
Switchshouldbesetto1forcabinet1,2forsecondcabinet,etc.
DNLD/VT100(toggleswitchS2):
SettoVT100ifVT100isconnectedtoRS232port.
Note
