5.9.2.1 CalibrateSystemForwardVisualPower
STEP 1 Calibratethepowermeterfo llowingmanufacturersinstructions.
STEP 2 Setthemeteroffsettothevalueprintedonthecoupler,orassuppliedwithadata
sheetincludedwiththefactorytestdata.
STEP 3 Removethesamplecablefromthesystemforwarddirectionalcoupler(afterfilter)to
becalibrated(see
Figure58).
STEP 4 Connectthepowermeterprobetothesystemforwarddirectionalcouplerport.
CouplerdesignsliketheoneshowninFigure58musthave50ohmterminationson
theportoppositethemeasurementport.Thepowermeterprobemustbesupported
topreventdamagetoconnectors.
STEP 5 Disablethesound(aural)carrierviatheApexM2Xcontrolscreens.

STEP 6 Select0%APL(BlackLevel,nosetupforNTSCcases)atvideogenerator.Connectto
videoinput.
STEP 7 PressandholdthepowerLOWERbuttonfor40secondsornavigatetoOutputscreen
andsetCab.Ref .Pwr.tozero.Eitherofthesestepswi llinsurethatthetransmitter
doesnotproducelargeamountsofRFpoweratturnon.
STEP 8 Verifythepoweroutputwiththepowermeterattachedtotheforwardportofthe
systemoutputdirectionalcoupler.Turnonandwhilemonitoringcabinetreflected
power,slowlyadjusttheMaxivaanalogtransmitteroutputuptolicensednominal
power(asprogrammedintheSystemSetupscreen).Ifhighlevels
ofcabinetreflected
powerarenoted,stopraisingpower,abadload,transmissionlineconnection,or
antennaisindicated.
Note
At Black level, the peak vision carrier power can be calculated by dividing the measured average power
displayed on the power meter by one of the factors found in
Section 5.9.1 on page 5-12. Note that the Sys
Vision Power (kWpk) entered on the System Setup screen is peak power derived from this division.
