4.6.1 ApexM2XExciter(s)
TheMaxivaULXseriesanalogtransmittercomesstandardwithasingleM2Xex citer.Asecondstandbyexciteris
availableasanoptionalongwithanexciterchangeoverswitchcardintheTCU.Operationandinformationaboutthe
M2Xexciteriscontainedintheinstructionmanualsshippedwiththeexciter.Ifthere
aretwoexciterstheoutputof
theexcitersareconnectedtotheexciterswitchcardinthemaincabinetTCU.Theselectedex citerthengoestoa
twowaysplitter,thentothepre‐drivers.Incaseswherethereisasingleex citerit’soutputgoesdirectlytothepre‐
driversviaatwowaysplitter.ForadditionalinformationontheM2Xexciterseetheexcitertechnicalmanualwhich
shipswitheachtransmitter.
4.6.2 Predriver
TheMaxivaULXpred riverprovidesredundantpowerandphaseadjustmentoftheRFdrivesignalforthe
transmitter.ThepredriveroperatesoverUHFTVfrequencybandsIV/V.Theunitincludesanaircooled28V4.5A
powersupply,phase‐n‐gainboard,RFamplifierandinterfaceboard.Thepredriverisdesignedto
performfollowing
functions:
• AmplifyandadjustthepowerleveloftheRFsignal(maxgain31dB).
• AdjustthephaseoftheRFsignal(range180°).
• Monitoroperatingparametersofsubassemblies
• ProvideconnectionwithTCUviainterfaceboard.
