To Reintegrate Orphaned Disk Drives
An orphan disk drive occurs in the following circumstances: (1) a working drive
from a RAID is accidentally removed from the server; (2) the RAID or system is
started with a drive missing; or, (3) a drive in a RAID intermittently fails, then
appears to work again. The server cannot distinguish between the accidental
removal and the intermittent failure. In either case, the drive becomes suspect and is
considered an orphan. To remedy the problem, add the drive using the procedure
just described.
