Circuit Load Types
Examples of the types of loads that may be connected to a circuit, and the labels that are typically found
beside the circuit breakers on a circuit breaker panel are summarized below.
LIGHTS
COMPUTER
HOME THEATER
GARAGE DOOR OPENER
SUMP PUMP
SPRINKLER SYSTEM
SECURITY ALARM
REFRIGERATOR
FURNACE
WELL PUMP (or other motor-driven device, such as a blower or exhaust fan)
FREEZER
MICROWAVE OVEN
AIR CONDITIONER
OTHER1 (use for other loads not listed above)
Once the load type is selected, the UTS automatically configures the remainder of the settings and values
so that they support your overall system requirements. However, you can continue to customize settings
and values as needed.
Circuit Source
GEN – The load will only be backed up by the generator (GEN) during a power outage.
UPS – The load will only be backed up by the UPS during a power outage.
EITHER – The load can be backed up by either type of power source during a power outage.
NONE – The load will not be backed up by any of the power sources during a power outage.
UNINTERRUPTIBLE – The load is always backed up (even when using primary UTILITY power) by the
UPS power source. This selection is for using a UPS as the power source. When it is set for uninterruptible,
the power to the load will always flow through the UTS and UPS, taking full advantage of the power
protection, filtering, voltage regulation, and other UPS backup features provided by the UPS.
This setting determines which of the backup sources (GEN,
UPS or OTHER) will be used to power the circuit’s load.
Some possible choices are shown below.
Note This option is not available for Circuit1, or for 240V circuits (Circuits 9 and 10 for
UTS10BI, and Circuits 5 and 6 for UTS6BI).
