Maintenance
General Task Descriptions
Fans
• Verify that the fan hardware is tight.
• Verify that electrical connection is secure.
Filters
Clean/replace air filters. Regular filter maintenance is vital to proper unit operation. Excessive
dirt accumulation will inhibit the flow of air resulting in a decrease in system efficiency.
Remove and clean the outdoor air fan inlet screen.
Water system
Winter protection.
• Snow should not be allowed to accumulate at the air inlets on the lower front of each
Module.
• The heat trace circuit should be regularly tested and inspected during freezing
temperatures to prevent possible damage to the makeup water system.
Water pump. Inspect the water pump. Remove power from the pump. Check for silt buildup.
Inspect for evidence of microbial contamination. Adjust the flush frequency as necessary.
Spray strainers. Remove power from the Module. Strainers are located inside upper right.
Inspect for debris accumulation. Remove each strainer, remove debris from the strainer, clean,
and reinstall as necessary.
Test Fill/Fill Vent and Basin Drain Valve. It is important to ensure that the fill line drain valve
opens when the fill valve closes and that the basin drain opens. Failure of the fill line drain
valve to open could result in water freezing and causing the pipe to rupture. Failure of the basin
valve to open could result in freezing and damaging the unit.
To test, first locate the fill and fill line drain valves. Shut the main disconnect off. A small amount
of water should come out of the pipe exiting the fill line drain valve. The basin should start
draining as witnessed by the water level dropping. Allow the water level to drop about 50 mm (2
in.). Once this occurs, you can apply power to the unit. Observe the water level to ensure the
basin is refilling.
WARNING
UNINTENDED EQUIPMENT OPERATION
Turn off the system, disconnect all power sources, and Lockout before performing work on
the fans.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or equipment
damage.
