AOC strives to deliver the highest quality products. We use some of the industry’s most advanced manufacturing
processes an d practice strin gent quality control. However, pixel or s ub pixel defects on the TFT monitor panels
used in flat panel moni tors are sometim es unavoidable. No manufacturer can guarantee that all panels will be free
from pixel defects, but AOC guarantees that any monitor with an unacceptable number of defects will be repaired or
replaced und er warranty. This Pixel Policy explains the different types of pixel defects an d defines acceptable
defect levels for each type. I n order to qualify for repair or replacement under warra nty, the number of pixel defects
on a TFT monitor panel must exceed these acceptable levels.
Pixels and Sub Pixel Defini ti on
A pixel, or picture elem ent, is composed of three sub pixe l s i n the primary colors of red, green and blue. When all
sub pixels of pixel are lit, t he thr ee c olored sub pixel together app ear as a single whit e pixel. When all are dark, the
three colore d sub pixels toget her appear as a sing le black pixel.
Types of Pixel Defects
Bright Dot Defects: the monitor displays a dar k pattern, sub pixels or pixels are alwa ys lit or “on”
Black Dot Defects: the monit or di s plays a light pattern, sub pixels or pi xels are always dar k or “off”.
