Working with Widgets
Widgets are
miniature
apps that you can place on your Home
screens. Some
widgets are
standalone
applications,
some open a related application
when you touch them, and others provide a subset of useful
information or controls for
th
eir
related applications
.
Stock widgets include a clock, a Gmail widget that displays recent messages
, a
music player, a picture frame,
a
calendar
that shows upcoming appointments
, and
so on.

can also download widgets from Android
Ma
rke
t
.
Some widgets simply display information and or act as
shortcuts
for opening
their
applications,
such as the Picture Frame
widget.
Some widgets give you controls to view and manage their
applications
conte
nt,
such as the Clock widget or
the Music Player
widget.
Y
o
u
can scroll information displayed by different widgets in different ways, for example, you can scroll up or
down among events in the Calendar widget, or with
a
carousel effect in the Books widge
t
.
If you touch & hold some widgets, such as the Gmail widget,
handles
appear at
its
edges so you can resize
it.
