1. Keep batteries cool or at room temperatures whenever pos-
sible.
Sustainedelevatedtemperaturesaretheprimaryreason
forprematurefailureofbatteries:
a. Charging-Chargebatteriesatroomtemperature.Inwarm
climateskeepchargersinairconditionedroomsforbest
performance.
b. Onassignment-Donotleavebatteriesinahotvehicletrunk
oroutindirectsunlight.
c. Althoughlithiumionhasgoodself-dischargecharacteristics,
longtermstorageinafullychargedconditionwillresultin
irreversiblecapacityloss.Thisisaproblemforalllithium
ionbatteries–fromcellphonestovideocameras.Usethe
battery;donotstoreitforextendedperiods.
d. Batteriesshouldalwaysbestoredinapartiallychargedstate
andkeptcool.Ifbatteriesmustbestoredforalongperiod
(oversixmonths),theyshouldbeperiodicallyremovedfrom
storageandsubmittedtoadischarge/chargecycle.
2. Do not over-discharge batteries -Itisquitepropertodischarge
abatteryuntilalowvoltagewarninginthecameraorVTRis
observed.However,aswitchtoafreshbatteryshouldoccuras
soonaspossiblefollowingsuchindication.Neverleaveabattery
operateddeviceunattendedwhileitisrunning.
3. DO NOT LEAVE A BATTERY ATTACHED TO A CAMERA/CAM-
CORDER during transit or storage.
“Keepwarm”circuitryin
thecameracandrainthebattery,becausetheDIONICHCbattery
hasspecializedcircuitswhichwillnotallowabatterytooverdis-
charge,thebatterywillprotectitselfandshutdown.
4. Lowvoltagebatteriescanalsobecausedbyallowingbatteries
toremainoffthechargerforextendedperiodscausingtheLCD
displaytobeblank,indicatingthattheelectroniccircuitryhas
removedallloadfromthebatterycells–includingthedisplay.In
thecasethatthebatteryisinalowvoltageconditionthebattery
shouldbereturnedtothecharger.Thechargeroutinewillnotbe
initiatedbythechargeruntilallotherbatterieshavecompleted
theirfastchargeroutines.Therefore,alowvoltagebatterycanbe
installedonanInterActivechargerwithoutthechargerindicat-
ingrecognition.Thebatteryshouldremainonthechargeruntil
chargingiscomplete.Itmaybehelpfultoremoveotherbatteries
beforeplacingabatterywithablankdisplayonthecharger.Ifthe
batterydisplaygoesfromblanktoashing,removefromchar-
gerandreinstall.Ifashingdisplayconditionremains,contact
customersupport.
5. Neverleaveanybatteryunattendedonequipment.
6. Routineuseofabatteryatdischargeratesgreaterthanthebat-
teryrating(e.g.150wattsmaximum,75wattsorlessforlighting
load)canreduceoverallservicelife.Alwaysselecttheproper
sizebatteryforyourapplication.
7. Dischargingthebatteryfordiagnosticpurposesshouldonly
beperformedonanoccasionalbasis(onceevery6-8weeksat
most).Unnecessarydischargingonlydetractsfromoveralllife.
