Audition Channel of Control Board through 8x4 Switcher
If the AMX Switcher is to be used for Unattended Recording AND normal studio production, the audition
channel of the console must be wired into an input on the 8x4 Switcher. When this feature is enabled, the
SMARTCASTER automatically routes the audition channel to the record inputs of the SMARTCASTER
when the user enters the Record/Audition Screen.
For the sake of keeping a standard throughout SMARTCASTER installations, we recommend that input 7
be used. However, any input can be utilized. (By keeping a standard, our support staff can quickly fix
station problems over the phone without having to check Setup configurations.)
To enable this Option, choose the Options Setup from the Setup menu, or type OSETUP at the C:>
prompt. Option 6, “Default AMX input for recording to SMARTCASTER” should be set to the
appropriate input number, (Ex: 7).
SmartTouch through the 8x4 Switcher
If desired, the SmartTouch can be wired as an input to the 8x4 Switcher. Simply wire System Out to an
input on the 8x4 Switcher. To enable the feature, in Options Setup or OSETUP, Option 14, “AMX input
for SmartTouch” should be set to the appropriate input number, (Ex: 6). When the user calls the
SmartTouch, the SMARTCASTER automatically routes this input to the air during the remote broadcast.
Remote Record audio through the 8x4 Switcher
If the station has purchased a Remote Record unit, the audio from the production room can be wired as an
input to the 8x4 Switcher. Note: The Remote Record unit is not the production unit purchased with the
Generation 2000 system. The Remote Record unit is a production console using RS-232 to communicate
to the SMARTCASTER. (The Generation 2000 uses a LAN Network.)
Simply wire the audio from the production console into an input of the 8x4 Switcher. In the Options
Setup or OSETUP, Option 21, “Remote Production AMX input (using PCU)” should be set to the
appropriate input, (Ex: 5).
Now, whenever someone records audio from the Remote Record unit, the SMARTCASTER automatically
routes the appropriate input to output 2 of the AMX Switcher.
