Ribbon Cable Connections
Three 20-pin flat ribbon cables, one 64-pin flat ribbon cable, and a gold 8x4 Switcher Harness Card, (see
below), should be included with the 8x4 Switcher. This card is used to make connections between the
SMARTCASTER and the 8x4 Switcher. In addition, all satellite relay closures are wired into this card.
AMX 8x4 Switcher Harness
On the SMARTCASTER are four 20- pin female connectors, labeled CON 1, CON 2, CON 3, and CON
4. Connect CN 1 to CON 1 with a 20-pin flat ribbon cable. The signals in this cable route inputs to
outputs 1 & 2 of the 8x4 Switcher. Next, connect CN 2 with CON 2 on the SMARTCASTER. These
signals are used for receiving relay closures from satellite receivers. Now connect CN 3 with CON 3.
With this connection, the SMARTCASTER can route inputs to outputs 3 & 4 of the 8x4 Switcher.
Finally, connect the 64-pin flat ribbon cable between the AMX Switcher Harness and the back of the
AMX Switcher.
