Monaural Simultaneous Playback and Record
For SMARTCASTERS equipped with the monaural version of Simultaneous Playback and Record, the
dBX wiring can be accomplished with one dBX - even with two outputs. Use channel A of the dBX for
audio from the console, through the dBX, and into the SMARTCASTER. Also use channel A for
Audition audio coming from the SMARTCASTER, through the dBX, and into the Audition input on the
console. Finally, use channel B for the Air audio from the the SMARTCASTER, through the dBX, and
going into the console.

Unbalanced Consoles
If the console has either unbalanced inputs or outputs, some modification is needed in wiring. For
unbalanced inputs, simply replace type ‘A’ plug connected to the “To Console” connection of the dBX
with a type ‘B’ plug. For unbalanced outputs, replace the type ‘A’ plug connected to the “From Console”
connection with a type ‘C’ plug.
