16. S/PDIF I/O
75ohm S/PDIF connectors for use with compatible equipment over coaxial RCA cables.
17. WORD CLOCK OUTPUT (TOP)
BNC connector to output Word Clock reference signal using a standard BNC cable.
WORD CLOCK INPUT (BOTTOM)
BNC connector to accept Word Clock reference signal from another device using a
standard BNC cable.
18. EIGHT PREAMP/COMBO INPUTS
8 Class-A mic discrete ultra-linear preamps with phantom power on combo XLR
connectors. Switchable between Mic/Line/Direct from the software Control Panel.
Important! Line-level sources should be recorded over TS/TRS cables, period. It’s
technically possible to record line-level sources over an XLR connection, but this has zero
benefit and is likely to cause problems. By connecting a line source over XLR, you are
sending line-level signal to a mic preamp expecting a much weaker, microphone-level
signal, thus amplifying an already ‘hot’ signal and degrading the audio. You cannot override
this by choosing ‘Line’ in the software Control Panel.
Notes:
● Hi-Z instrument inputs are available on the 4 front panel inputs only.
● Inputs 5 to 12 have built-in mic emulations. They are accessed from the
software Control Panel. Read the 'Edge & Verge mic emulations' chapter to
learn more.
19. AD INSERTS
Two ¼” TRS inserts (I1 & I2) for integrating external analog equipment such as dynamics
processors and EQs.
Integrating external analog equipment
Each insert is both an analog input and an output, enabling Send/Return functionality from
a single jack. The inserts are non-routable, hence they aren’t visible in the Routing Matrix.
Insert I1 input is hard-wired to preamp/combo input 1 and Insert I2 input is hard-wired to
preamp/combo input 2. Both preamp/combo inputs are found on the front panel, labeled
A1 and A2.
