User Guide

The graphic below explains the processing functions.
The C4 Precision Loudness Controller can be engaged or bypassed via the rear panel DIPswitch. Place
DIPswitch A in the up position to engage the Loudness Controller. Disengage by placing DIPswitch A in
the down position.
Activity LED’s
Amber LED = “Gain Lock” indication.
Indicates processing is frozen (also called “gated”).
Green LED = Actively processing Audio
Red LED = Input is being overdriven (Input clipping indicator)
Multifunction adjustment control
When loudness control mode is set to “off, this control becomes an output level control.
When in level control mode, The Audio Chameleon C4 sets output LUFS level to -10LUFS. In this
setting, processing texture is more “dense”, comparable to broadcast radio. LUFS can be adjusted
to desired target by reducing the output level without changing audio processing texture.
When loudness control is engaged, the multifunction control becomes the LUFS target.
At 20 turns clockwise (maximum), LUFS target is -14 LUFS. At 20 turns Counter-clockwise,
LUFS target is -24 LUFS. As LUFS target is reduced, so is audio density texture. The lower LUFS, the more
“open” sounding the processing becomes. -24 LUFS is useful for more transparent “upstream” audio leveling
