21 Troubleshooting Guide
21.1 Backpack Battery
21 Troubleshooting Guide
Always disconnect the battery before carrying out any inspection, cleaning or maintenance.
Condition LEDs and
Acoustic
Signals
Cause Remedy
Power tool does not
start when switched
on.
1 LED flashes
green and six
long beeps are
emitted.
Battery has low
charge.
► Charge the battery, @ 8.
1 LED glows
red.
Battery too hot / too
cold.
► Allow the battery to warm up or cool down gradually at
ambient temperatures of about 50 °F to 68 °F (10 °C to
20 °C).
4 LEDs flash
red and a rapid
succession of
short beeps is
emitted.
Malfunction in
battery.
► Disconnect the battery from the power tool and reconnect it.
► Switch on the power tool.
► If the LEDs continue to flash, do not attempt to use the
battery.
The battery has a malfunction and must be replaced.
3 LEDs glow
red.
Power tool too hot. ► Allow the power tool to cool down.
3 LEDs flash
red.
Malfunction in power
tool.
► Disconnect the battery from the power tool and reconnect
the battery.
► Switch on the power tool.
► If the LEDs still flash, do not attempt to use the power tool.
The power tool has a malfunction and must be checked by
a servicing dealer.
Power tool cuts out
during operation.

► Allow the power tool and battery to warm up/cool down
gradually at ambient temperatures of about 50 °F to 68 °F
(10 °C to 20 °C).

Power tool too hot.
No electrical contact
between power tool
and battery.
► Disconnect the battery from the power tool and reconnect it.
► Switch on the power tool.
► If the power tool still cuts out during operation, clean the
contact surfaces on the connecting cord, @ 19.2.
Run-time is too short. Battery not fully
charged.
► Charge the battery, @ 8.
