Mounting the Controller Directly on a Flat Surface Using
the Mounting Holes
Directly mounting the controller to a flat, rigid surface is the only method for applications with
high shock and vibration. Use the mounting holes in the controller to mount the controller
directly on a flat, rigid surface.
1. Use the dimensions shown in Figure 10 to prepare the surface for mounting the controller.
Figure 10. cRIO-9030 Surface Mounting Dimensions
2. Align the controller on the surface.
3. Fasten the controller to the surface using four M4 screws appropriate for the surface.
Screws must not exceed 8 mm of insertion into the chassis. National Instruments does not
provide these screws.
Mounting the Controller on a Panel
You can mount the cRIO controller without a kit by screwing through a flat panel into the four
holes on the back of the controller. Use M4 screws with a length suitable for the depth of the
panel. Screws must not exceed 8 mm of insertion into the chassis. National Instruments does not
provide these screws.
You can use the NI panel mounting kit, part number 157253-01, to mount the controller on a flat
surface.
1. Fasten the panel mounting plate to the controller using a #2 Phillips screwdriver and four
M4 × 10 screws. National Instruments provides these screws with the panel mounting kit.
