Installing a Third Party SFP Transceiver
To install an SFP transceiver, perform the following steps:
1. Consider your network and cabling requirements to select an appropriate SFP transceiver type.
2. Insert the transceiver with the optical connector facing outward and the slot connector facing down.
Note that SFP transceivers are keyed so they can only be installed in one orientation.
3. Slide the SFP transceiver into the slot until it clicks into place.
Stacking Switches
The switch supports stacking up to eight units through an SFP stacking transceiver. The stacking
transceiver must be installed in the port 25 slot. Each stacking transceiver has two connectors, Tx and
Rx, for attaching stacking cables. FIG. 17 shows how stacking cables are connected between switches in
a stack. It is not possible to stack PoE switches with non-PoE switches; however, establishing trunks
between the two can provide similar results.

SFP transceivers are hot-swappable. The switch does not need to be powered off
before installing or removing a transceiver. However, always first disconnect the
network cable before removing a transceiver.
The stacking transceiver must only be installed in the port 25 SFP slot.
