5.12 Opening the lid if there is a power failure
It will not be possible to open the lid by the normal method of pushing the
release handle if there is a power failure, or if the lid lock has been deliberately
disabled by the control system for safety reasons. The procedure below should
be followed in these circumstances:-
1. Switch the centrifuge OFF - WAIT 5 MINUTES TO ENSURE THE ROTOR
HAS STOPPED.
2. Insert the emergency over-ride key into the small hole near the release
handle, (see Figure 1 page 8).
3. Move the key as shown in Figure 11 below to move back the lid lock
solenoid.
4. With the lid lock solenoid dis-engaged, push back the release handle and the
lid will open normally.
