Synchronous
An 83-key keyboard introduced by
IBM in 1981 for the IBM PC or an
84-key keyboard for the IBM AT.
A method of data communication
in which a group of characters is
sent as a continuous stream of bits.
The characters, data bits, are sent
at a fixed rate, with the transmitter
and receiver synchronized (clock
controlled). This eliminates the
need for start and stop bits.
