If the Supervisor Password field is “Installed”, the following item appears on the screen.
User Access Level – [No Access] or [View Only], [LIMITED], or [Full Access]
To clear Supervisor password: .
a. Press <Enter> to access the pop-up menu, Enter New Password:
b. Do not enter a password and press the <Enter> key, following the prompts.
c. Repeat this process until the old password is gone, which is indicated by Not Installed.
Change User Password
a. Select Change User Password from the Security Setup menu.
b. Press <Enter> to access the pop-up menu, Enter New Password:
c. Type the password and press <Enter> again.
The screen will not display the password as you type.
d. Retype the password when prompted by the pop-up menu and press <Enter> again.
If the password is not confirmed when you retype it, an error message will appear.
If the Change User Password field is “Installed”, a Pop-Up screen, titled “Clear User
Password?” appears with these selections.
Clear User Password – [OK] or [Cancel]
Password Check – [Setup] or [Always]
Boot Sector Virus Protection – [Disabled] or [Enabled]
This field displays a warning when any program (or virus) issues a Disk Format command or
attempts to write to the boot sector of the hard disk drive.
If [Disabled] is selected, there is no Boot Sector Virus Protection warning displayed for the
hard disk drive.
If [Enabled] is selected, a warning is displayed when any program (or virus) issues a Disk
Format command or attempts to write to the boot sector of the hard disk drive. A warning
display also appears if there is any attempt to format any cylinder, head, or sector of any hard
disk drive.
The following display appears when a write is attempted to the boot sector.
Boot Sector Write!
Possible VIRUS: Continue (Y/N)?
You may have to type N several times to prevent the boot sector write.
The following appears after any attempt to format any cylinder, head, or sector of any hard
disk drive via the BIOS INT 13 Hard disk drive.
