Chapter 1: Getting Started AmpliFi User Guide Product Overview MeshPoint Router Front Adjustable Antenna Signal LEDs The front of the AmpliFi Router features an adjustable, full‑color touchscreen display. Magnetic Connector The bottom of the AmpliFi Router features an adjustable LED that is fully lit by default when the Router is configured and ready for use. MeshPoint Base Note: The brightness settings of the touchscreen and LED are configurable using the AmpliFi app.

Installing the Router To connect the AmpliFi Router, follow these steps: 1. Power off your broadband modem. 2. Connect one end of the Ethernet Cable to your broadband modem and the other end to the Internet port on the AmpliFi Router. 5. Power on your broadband modem. 3. Connect the small end of the Power Adapter to the power port on the AmpliFi Router.

Download the App To set up the AmpliFi Router using the AmpliFi app, follow these steps: 1. Download and install the AmpliFi app from the App Store or Google Play™. 2. Launch the AmpliFi app. 2. Tap Skip to bypass the hardware setup instructions (which were performed in the previous section).

Chapter 3: Using the App for Installation Accessing Another AmpliFi Router The app accesses one AmpliFi Router at a time. If you want to set up or access a different Router, perform these steps: 1. The Static option allows you to manually enter information given to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). 1. Enter the appropriate information into each of the corresponding fields. • IP Address Enter the Internet IP address of the Router. • Network Mask Enter the network or subnet mask of the Router.
AmpliFi User Guide Chapter 4: Installing Without the App PPPoE Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) is a virtual private and secure connection between two systems that enables encapsulated data transport. 1. Enter the Username and Password given to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). 2. Click Save & Continue. The AmpliFi Router will emit a sound indicating that it has been configured. AmpliFi User Guide Chapter 5: Router Touchscreen Chapter 5: Router Touchscreen Throughput Router Display The Router provides the following information as you tap the front display: • Time and Date JUL 15 — NOW 126.4 317.9 • Throughput • IP Addresses • Speed Total MB • Port Status For configuration, refer to the AmpliFi app. Time and Date • Date - Now Displays the date range for the current throughput, for both uploads and downloads.
Chapter 5: Router Touchscreen Speed • Speed, Upload Displays the current upload speed. • Speed, Download Displays the current download speed. Port Status Gray Indicates that the LAN port is available. White Indicates that the LAN port is in use. Internet connection established. Reserved for future use. Indicates the device is powered on.
AmpliFi User Guide Chapter 6: System The System screen of the AmpliFi App displays the system dashboard. It provides an overview of the AmpliFi Wi-Fi system including network status, number of connected clients, and active download/upload speeds. Tap the router icon to display or edit the Router’s settings. Chapter 6: System Tap a MeshPoint to display signal quality, view/edit the device name, view MeshPoint details, and locate or reboot the MeshPoint.
Chapter 6: System Router Settings Settings The Settings screen for the AmpliFi Router offers a variety of configuration options and hardware information. AmpliFi User Guide • Reboot Restarts the Router. • Factory Reset Resets the Router and all online MeshPoints to factory default settings. Internet The Internet screen for the Router allows you to access Internet connection settings, including service type: DHCP, Static IP, or PPPoE. Tap to save your changes.
AmpliFi User Guide Static If your service provider supplies you with fixed network settings to assign to the Router, use the Static option to manually enter that information here. Chapter 6: System Here are a few of the most common applications for bridge mode: • Connect two routers to share network resources. • Use the Router as an additional access point on an existing network. • Use the Router with a fiber service. DHCP The use of the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is the default.

AmpliFi User Guide • Security Select the type of wireless security you use: None, WPA PSK, or WPA2 PSK. None is the default. • Hidden SSID Disabled by default. Select this option if you don’t want the wireless network name or SSID to be visible to any users within range of the Router. Other Chapter 6: System Brightness LCD Move the slider control left or right to adjust the brightness of the touchscreen display.

Address The range of available IP addresses is displayed. The DHCP server assigns IP addresses from the pool (or group) of IP addresses. DHCP Settings • Range The current range is displayed. Select the range you want to use. • Subnet The current subnet is displayed. Select the subnet you want to use.
AmpliFi User Guide Chapter 6: System -- Name Enter a descriptive name for the device that will be assigned a static IP address. -- MAC Address Enter the MAC address of the device. -- IP Address Select the IP address you want to assign. Tap to save your changes. Port Forwarding Tap this option to create a virtual port that allows you to forward traffic from one port to another.
Chapter 6: System AmpliFi User Guide Information Software About • Version Displays the version number of the Router software. The About screen for the Router displays the model name and version numbers of the device and software, as well as the MAC addresses of the hardware interfaces. Device Information • Model Name Displays the model of the Router. • Hardware Revision Displays the revision number of the Router hardware. • Revision Displays the revision number of the Router software.
AmpliFi User Guide Firmware Update The Firmware Update screen allows you to check for updates to the device firmware for the Router and MeshPoints. • Up to date If there are no firmware updates available, then “Up to date” is displayed. Chapter 6: System • Updates Available If firmware updates are available, then the current and update version numbers for the firmware are listed for each applicable device. Tap Update All to proceed with all available firmware updates.
Chapter 6: System Support Info The Support Info option generates an encrypted file to send to our support team. This file contains AmpliFi configuration and runtime information that can be used to answer any questions or troubleshoot an issue. AmpliFi User Guide When the file is ready to transmit, tap Send. If you want to discard the file, tap Cancel. Note: No passwords are stored in the file. To generate the file, tap Proceed. To ignore creating the support file, tap Cancel.
AmpliFi User Guide Signal Quality Chapter 6: System • MAC Addresses • Signal Strength Displays the percentage of signal strength. -- Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz Displays the MAC address of the 2.4 GHz wireless interface. • MeshPoint Band Displays the radio band used by the MeshPoint. Select 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. The default is 5 GHz. -- Wi-Fi 5 GHz Displays the MAC address of the 5 GHz wireless interface. General -- Guest Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz Displays the MAC address of the guest 2.4 GHz wireless interface.

AmpliFi User Guide Chapter 7: Performance The Performance screen allows you to access the throughput statistics and run a speed test. You can examine up‑to‑date, second‑by‑second performance so you know how the Router and MeshPoints are communicating with your devices. Chapter 7: Performance Swipe the bar graph to the left to display the Throughput pie chart. It shows the percentages of current download and upload data usage.
Chapter 7: Performance ISP Test You can run a speed test that will provide your download speed, upload speed, and connection ping time. A history of recent tests is displayed at the bottom. Tap Start Test to run the ISP test. When the test is complete, the following results will be displayed: Time Displays the date and time of the speed test. Download Displays the download speed. Upload Displays the upload speed. Ping Displays the duration of the average Ping round-trip time in milliseconds.
AmpliFi User Guide Chapter 8: Guest Chapter 8: Guest Status and Settings The Guest screen allows you to enable guest access to the wireless network. Active/Inactive Displays the status of the guest network. Quick Setup To enable the guest network: 1. Select how many guests you want to allow, up to a maximum of 10. 2. Set a time limit for how long you want them to have access to it. Guests Connected Displays how many guests are currently connected to the guest network. Max.
Chapter 8: Guest Share Tap to share the guest network name or SSID. Tap the appropriate option, or tap Cancel to exit. AmpliFi User Guide Start Tap to enable the guest network. Stop Tap to disable the guest network. Settings Tap to access the wireless settings for more configuration options, including wireless security options. Indefinitely Tap to remove the time limit for guest access. If the guest network was inactive, you can tap this option to immediately enable the guest network.

A green check mark indicates success. WAN Link The connection between the Router and modem is checked. IP Address Displays the public IP address of the Router. Gateway Address Displays the IP address of the service provider’s gateway router. DNS Address Displays the IP address(es) of the service provider’s DNS server(s).

From the main app screen, tap the menu icon in the upper left corner to reveal additional app functions. Remote Access Enables remote access to the AmpliFi Router using verified credentials from your Google™ or Facebook account.

Appendix A: FAQs Can I use my current Internet service provider? Yes, the Router works with most ISPs (Internet Service Providers) because it connects directly to the modem you already have. Does AmpliFi support fiber services, such as Google Fiber or Fios? Yes, you can use AmpliFi with a fiber service if you set up the Router to use bridge mode.
