ACL Utilities
5.1 Introduction
This section contains the manual pages for the ACL utilities. All information in the section was
accurate at the time of publication, but is subject to change without notice. For the latest
information, see the Release Notes for your version of the ACL software.
5.2 ACL Utilities Overview
The ACL Management Utilities are a set of programs that provide command-line access to an
Ampex DST or DIS ACL. They provide capabilities for:
updating the ACL internal database and checking location status.
checking or changing ACL configuration parameter settings.
retrieving error/event logs, static logs, and sense data.
getting vendor, product, software version, and software release information.
controlling the ACL cartridge handling system (CHS).
moving tape cartridges between locations.
retrieving ACL operating status.
ACL Management Utilities are compatible with the DST/DIS Tape Management (DD-2)
Utilities. They are designed for use in scripts that perform higher-level operations, so they use
a consistent set of input and output conventions that make them easy to integrate.
Note: See also “DST API Overview” and “DD-2 Utilities Overview” in the DST/DIS Tape
Drive UNIX Programmer’s Guide .
5.2.1 Applicability
Unless otherwise noted, the information in the ACL Management Utilities manual pages
applies to all DST and DIS ACLs. Information unique to specific ACL models is identified by
