WATER CLEAN-UP
Do-It-Yourself In Three Easy Steps
Surface Preparation
Careful and complete preparation will ensure the best results. The surface must
be clean, dry and relatively free from all dust, grease, wax, dirt, oil, chalk,
solvents, loose paint, wallpaper and paste. Wash surface thoroughly. Heavily
rusted areas may be wire brushed or sanded until smooth. Mold and mildew
areas may be cleaned with an appropriate cleaner (i.e. 5-10% bleach and water
solution). Paint & Prime
has mildew inhibitors and will kill most fungus and algae.
When priming over stains, remove as much of the stain as possible by washing or
sanding the surface. For exterior peeling, power wash surfaces first and sand
until smooth. Follow standard painting practices while preparing the surface.
Prime With Paint & Prime
For best results use two coats of Paint & Prime in difficult areas. If the stain
persists
again. Apply with a brush, roller or sprayer. Paint & Prime may be
applied to stained areas only, but best results are obtained by priming the entire
surface. This will extend the coverage and life span of the topcoat. Coverage will
vary depending on the porosity of the surface.
Topcoat
Topcoat with Ames
Paint & Prime . Other fine quality latex paints may also be
used as the final coat. Do not topcoat with solvent-borne paints or
.

What is Paint & Prime
?
Paint & Prime
is a premium, all in one, water based, pure acrylic latex paint
and primer built into a single product. Paint & Prime
can be applied to
almost any surface. Paint & Prime
has excellent adhesion to hard-to-stick
surfaces, including wood, sheetrock, most metals, and most concrete surfaces.
Paint & Prime
is a “high-hide” and can generally cover some grease, mildew,
ink, smoke odors, and most stains in 1-2 coats. It has been designed to extend
paint coverage of other paints. It provides the finest adhesion and water
resistance possible. It is not a PVA but a pure acrylic making it superior to other
primers on the market. It can be sprayed, is VOC free and can be cleaned
with water. Paint & Prime
is the best money can buy!
Paint & Prime
is a commercial-grade-DO-IT-YOURSELF product, and
application is an “Easy as 1-2-3.” Before you start, please read all of the
instructions on this container to ensure the best results. Always run a test patch
first, in an inconspicu-ous area to ensure that proper adhesion and drying occur
and the product works to your satisfaction.
Tinting Paint & Prime
Paint & Prime is tintable and has been universally formulated to match closely
most water based liquid tint formulates such as PPG, ACE, Glidden, Sherwin-
Williams, and most other popular brand paints.
Application
When the air temperature is at 55°F, substrates may be colder; prior to painting,
check to be sure the air, surface, and material temperature are above 55°F and at
least 5°F above the dew point. If in doubt use a space heater to raise room
temperature to appropriate levels.
Drying Times For Most Interior Applications
Under normal conditions, Paint & Prime
will dry in 15 to 35 minutes and may
be top
coated after 1 hour in most cases. Extra drying time may be necessary
due to humidity, temperature or poor ventilation. During cold or humid
weather, use a space heater to assist in the drying process.
