Prerequisites for Implementing Paging
The following prerequisites are necessary when
implementing paging with the MP48.
• An analog telephone line must be used for dial-
up. MP48 paging will not work with a digital
telephone line.
• An external (AT Command Set) modem
• Subscription to a telecommunications service
provider. The service provider must support the
Telocator Alphanumeric Protocol (TAP). The
external modem wired to the MP48 must
communicate directly with the service provider’s
computer.
• Personal Identification Numbers (PINs)
assigned by the service provider to the remote
paging devices that will receive transmissions.
