5. To verify, type:
gpg --verify signature.sig clips.avi
The gpg program returns a GOOD or BAD signature result. A GOOD signature indicates
the exported clips have not been altered.
Practical Use of Digital Signatures
A digital signature is useful for determining the authenticity of recorded video. For
example, you may have captured video surveillance of activity that can be used as
evidence. You can export the video clip containing the evidence with a signature to an
external USB device, such as a ThumbDrive
®
, hard disk drive, or a CD-RW. You can
then export the public key to a USB ThumbDrive
®
or USB hard disk drive.
The
external device contains your verifiable evidence.
NOTE: The public key can only be exported to a USB ThumbDrive
®
or a USB hard
disk drive. It cannot be exported to a CD-RW.
