ACTIVE CONTENT COMPRESSION
From a storage and transmission
standpoint, compression is one of the key
elements that makes digital video recording
possible. While other video compression
technologies originated to serve other
purposes, American Dynamics Active
Content Compression (ACC) was developed
specifically for security and productivity
management.
The trick to video compression is to
remove information no one will notice is
missing (i.e. noise). Since noise is a major
player when it comes to compression and
file sizes, it is only natural that it should be
a consideration in compression methods. ACC
uses noise immunity to compress images
to create what is known as a prediction or
updated frame. This includes only active
content or changes within the image,
and translates into smaller file sizes, less
bandwidth and the ability to store over
9 times more video than MPEG-4 and
MJPEG-based systems in the same space.
