Example 11: How to change from U.S.A. Aviation User Tail Number ABC-
DEF to Brazil Serial User 24-bit address AF0F0F (Short message)
Sample hex code for U.S.A.: 5713C67731961B0FDEE790
571 = U.S.A. country code in hex format
3C677319 = Tail Number ABC-DEF, to be changed to 24-bit address AF0F0F
FDEE79 = bits 85 to 108. This 6-digit hex must be adjusted to make sure that Encoded BCH1
and Calculated BCH1 are ALWAYS identical.
Our goal is to convert the above hex code to Brazil, Serial User with 24-bit address AF0F0F.
Step 1:
(if you do not wish to change Country code, skip this step)
To change to your desired country, replace 571 with your desired country code from TABLE 1
on page 4, under “Country Code in Hex format (Serial User).”
For example: 4CD for Belgium, 4E4 for France, 571 for U.S.A.
If your desired country is not included in the table, you have to convert your desired country
code to hex format yourself.
Step a:
Convert your desired country code (in this example 710) from decimal format to
binary format:
Use the included conversion tool “451 OM-TS-451 Decimal and Binary Conversion
Tool.mht” or go to http://acc6.its.brooklyn.cuny.edu/~gurwitz/core5/nav2tool.html
(Internet browser is required) to convert your desired country code (in decimal format) to
binary format
NOTE: You must click on “Try it again!” button before every new conversion.
