7. Sending Email on the Kindle Fire
Have you ever wanted to own a portable emailing device capable of sending and receiving messages, adding attach-
ments, forwarding amusing photos to friends and generally staying in touch?
Like smartphones and other tablets, the Kindle Fire provides email functionality. Want to drop your friends a quick
hello? No problem! Like to keep your eye on work-related matters over the weekend? Use your Kindle Fire to login to
your corporate account!
With full automatic email conguration functionality for popular accounts (Gmail, Hotmail, etc) and advanced settings
for setting up others, using email on your Kindle Fire makes staying in touch that much easier.
7.1 Setting up, collecting and sending
So you’ve got your favourite websites loaded up and added
to your bookmarks, and made sure that you can view all of
your favourite video streaming services.
With the Silk Browser setup, it must be time to get your
emails loaded onto your Kindle Fire. The tablet has a native
Email app available in the Apps screen, capable of sup-
porting multiple accounts. When you rst launch the app
you will be prompted to input your email account name and
password – the app will do the “heavy lifting” of congur-
ing the correct settings for you (additional accounts can be
added via Menu > Accounts. You can switch between your
accounts via the drop-down menu in the upper-left corner of
the app).
Once your email account is congured, your messages
will be displayed. Reading is a simple case of tapping the
message title, and from here you can reply and forward the
