Use Amazon Fire TV with a Second Screen Device
You can enhance your experience with Amazon Fire TV by using Second Screen features
from compatible devices like your Kindle Fire HDX.
Before you begin:
Both your tablet and your Amazon Fire TV must be connected to the Internet. You will
have the best results if both devices are connected to the same home network.
Both devices must be registered to the same Amazon Account.
To use Second Screen from your tablet:
1. Find an Amazon Instant Video movie or TV show you want to watch.
2. The Watch button should have the Send To icon enabled on it.
3. Select the Send To icon and then select your Amazon Fire TV from the list.
4. The video will start playing on your TV. While watching, you can control playback
by tapping the Play , Pause , or Jump Back button, or using the video
progress bar to move forward or go back. Your tablet will also display related X-Ray
information (if available).
To use Second Screen when you already have content playing on your TV:
1. Swipe down from the top of your tablet to display the notifications screen.
2. You should see a notification for the content currently being played.
3. Select the Play/Pause button on the notification to pause or resume the video.
4. Select the notification row to control the video playback with the media controls or
launch the synchronized X-Ray experience (if available).
Turn on or Customize Closed Captions
While browsing Amazon Instant Video movies and TV shows, videos that include closed
captions appear with the closed caption symbol (“CC”) on their overview pages. Most videos
that support closed captions include English text. Other languages may also be available.
To watch a video with closed captions:
1. Play the video you want to watch.
2. Once playback has started, press the Menu button on the Amazon Fire TV remote
and select Turn Captions On.
o After you turn captions on, navigate left or right with the track pad on the
remote to select the font size and color scheme for the caption text. Your
selections apply to all videos you play until you change them again.
3. Press the Menu button again to return to video playback with captions on.
4. To turn captions off, press the Menu button on the remote and select Turn Captions
Off.
