Fire TV Stick Hardware Basics
Locate power, HDMI, and Ethernet ports on your Fire TV Stick.
Port Description
Power (Micro-USB) The power port connects the included power cord from
Fire TV Stick to the provided power adapter or a USB
port. To turn off Fire TV Stick, unplug the power cord
from the device or from the power adapter.
You can plug your Fire TV Stick into your TV's USB port
for power, but using the supplied power adapter is
recommended. Some TVs have a USB port, but it might
not provide enough power. You cannot use the USB port
to connect Fire TV Stick to other computers or devices.
Note: It is not necessary to turn off Fire TV Stick when
you are finished using it. Your Fire TV Stick is designed
to conserve energy by going into sleep mode after 30
minutes, while continuing to automatically receive
important software updates.
HDMI The HDMI connector goes directly into your TV. Be
careful when inserting Fire TV Stick into your TV.
Note: Fire TV Stick only supports HDMI output.
HDMI Extender Cable Use the HDMI extender if you cannot easily plug your
Fire TV Stick into your TV or if you are getting a poor Wi-
Fi signal.
