23 Using Amanda Portal’s Call Recording Module
To use Amanda Portal’s Call Recording feature, you must purchase the Call Recording
module. Once activated, you’ll have access to the call recording feature. This feature
requires that you perform hairpin transfers. A hairpin transfer is a call transfer using 2
ports. Hairpin transfers can be internal or external and can only be performed if using
Intel/Dialogic boards.
To enable call recording for a mailbox you must add the extended mailbox property
“record_conversation”, and set the value to 1. Once set, you MUST set the transfer type
to “hairpin” within the incoming call options of the mailbox.
If you want all incoming calls to be recorded, you can add the extended mailbox setting
to mailbox 997 (the default mailbox), and set the transfer type to “hairpin”before creating
your mailboxes and it will be enabled for all mailboxes automatically.
How the call recording feature works:
Whenever a caller dials a mailbox with the “record_conversation” feature enabled, that
call is transferred to the extension using 2 ports. One port performs the call transfer,
while the second port is used to record the conversation. Once the call is completed, the
recording is saved as a new message in the called party’s mailbox with a default subject
set to “Recorded conversation”.
Note: You can also set the transfer type to “follow me” which also uses a hairpin type
transfer This feature is only supported by Amanda Portal version 1.46 and above.
