Suggested voices are Heather, Laura, or Aaron when using BrightSpeech TTS.
Important Note: When setting the value for default_speaker you must set the value
exactly as shown above for either one of the Microsoft or BrightSpeech choices (where
it’s case sensitive). For example:
default_speaker Microsoft Mary (for Microsoft TTS)
or
default_speaker Babel BrightSpeech French (Heather8k) (for BrightSpeech)
22.1 Using the Speak Command
Once sapi5.1 is installed and a default_speaker is set in Amanda Portal’s configuration,
you can use the speak command to perform text to speech, for example you might put the
following line in the caller method of a mailbox (make sure it’s 80 characters or less, or
you need to put the text in a file).
speak {hello my name is amanda, how are you today}
Using this command, Amanda Portal will speak the text back to you when the mailbox is
dialed.
22.2 How to Create a TTS Greeting
You can also actually create greetings within the greetings dialog using the Other mmo
type where you can select ASCII as the type and Amanda will use text to speech to
playback the text message as the greeting.
To do this, log into Amanda Portal Station. Select the mailbox you wish to create the TTS
greeting for, and open the Greetings dialog.
