Wood Pantograph Instructions
The pantograph is a tool for the reproduction of drawings in enlarged and reduced scales. The
enlargement and reduction ratios are clearly marked next to each hole in the arms. For both
enlargement and reduction, the central pivot screws should always be inserted in holes with the
same ratio number in each of the 4 arm sections.

To Enlarge:
1. Determine the desired enlargement ratio and set both central pivot screws, F and G, in the corresponding holes in the arms
2. Insert and secure the Tracing Point, 2, in position B
3. Insert and secure the Lead Holder, 3, in position C
4. Insert and secure the Support Pin, 4, in position E
5. Attach the board clamp 1 to the side of your table with the pin facing up
6. Connect the pantograph to the board clamp in position A
7. Place the original drawing under the Tracing Point
8. Place the paper for the enlarged drawing under the Lead Holder
9. Guide the Tracing Point carefully over the original drawing and press gently on the Lead Holder to create the enlarged reproduction
To Reduce:
1. Determine the desired reduction ratio and set both central pivot screws, F and G, in the corresponding holes in the arms
2. Insert and secure the Tracing Point, 2, in position C
3. Insert and secure the Lead Holder, 3, in position B
4. Insert and secure the Support Pin, 4, in position E
5. Attach the board clamp 1 to the side of your table with the pin facing up
6. Connect the pantograph to the board clamp in position A
7. Place the original drawing under the Tracing Point
8. Place the paper for the reduced drawing under the Lead Holder
9. Guide the Tracing Point carefully over the original drawing and press gently on the Lead Holder to create the reduced reproduction
Helpful Hints for best results
• Work on a perfectly smooth surface
• Be sure the central pivot screws pass through holes with the same ratio number
• Be sure all the pivot screws and components are rmly tightened
• Tape all papers to the board or table you are working on
• Be sure the board clamp is rmly secured to the board
• Keep the lead sharp by using sandpaper or a lead pointer
• Use one hand to guide the Tracing Point and your other hand to press lightly on the Lead Holder
