2.2.6 Grounding the ODU-IDU Cable
Follow the instructions below to ground the ODU-IDU cable. The following
paragraphs describe one method for grounding the outdoor-rated Category 5E
Ethernet cable through its drain wire. The actual connection method employed
is left to the professional installer.
1 Strip back about a one inch (2.4 cm) section of the Ethernet cable jacket to
expose the drain wire.
2 Attach a grounding cable to the drain wire and then connect it to protective
earth.
3 Use weatherproof tape to cover and seal the attachment area on the Ethernet
cable.
