Requiring One or Two Spaces between Sentences
Traditional keyboarding classes taught with typewriters specified that typists
should put two spaces after a period before starting a new sentence. Modern
typesetting, word processing, and Web pages all use just one space between
sentences.
In the teacher options, you can specify the number of spaces that you want
your students to include between sentences. Follow these steps:
1. In KeyWords, move the cursor next to Teacher options and press enter.
2. Type the master password and press enter.
3. Move the cursor down next to Set one/two spaces between sentences
and press enter.
4. Use the
 or  keys to change the number of spaces between
sentences. You can specify either 1 or 2.
5. Press the space bar when you have finished making the change.
Using AlphaSmart Manager 2 with KeyWords
AlphaSmart Manager 2 comes with each NEO. When you’re using KeyWords,
this program can be useful in many ways:
• It lets you set all KeyWords options from one screen at your computer.
• If you have a SmartOption Mobile Lab with an AlphaHub, AlphaSmart
Manager 2 lets you manage KeyWords options for up to thirty NEOs at the
same time.
• In AlphaSmart Manger version 2.6 and higher, the program can retrieve
KeyWords data from NEOs and create reports that you can print and save.
• AlphaSmart Manager version 2.6 and higher can also synchronize that data
with the KeyWords program in Renaissance Place, allowing you to use that
program to generate reports. (See page 6-24.)
The following procedures explain how to use some KeyWords features of
AlphaSmart Manager 2. For complete instructions for AlphaSmart Manager,
refer to the AlphaSmart Manager 2 User Manual that is available on the
program CD or on our Web site.
You can also change
this setting in
AlphaSmart
Manager. With the NEO(s)
connected, click the Settings
tab in AlphaSmart Manager,
click KeyWords on the left,
and choose 1 or 2 after Set
Spaces between sentences.
Then, send the change to your
NEOs.
