User Manual
To start QuizManager, follow the instructions for your type of computer.
On Windows Computers
Click Start  Programs  AlphaSmart  QuizManager  Launch
QuizManager.
On Macintosh Computers
Open the Applications folder, then the QuizManager folder. Double-click
QuizManager.
About the QuizManager Control Bar
When you have started QuizManager, a status message across the top of the
control bar lets you know how many NEOs are connected to your computer (if
any), either through a SmartOption Mobile Lab or by a direct USB cable
connection.
The numbered circles show you NEOs connected through a SmartOption
Mobile Lab. The Direct USB circle shows you NEOs connected directly to the
computer with a USB cable. The color of each circle shows you the status of
each NEO:
•Green means a NEO is connected at this location, and the NEO has
AlphaQuiz installed.
• Black means no NEO is connected in this location (or it is an older device
with older software). If you have a NEO connected at this location and the
circle is still black, disconnect the NEO and turn it on; then, reconnect it.
• Yellow means a NEO is connected, but it does not have the AlphaQuiz
SmartApplet installed. To install the SmartApplet on that NEO, see
page 1-3.
• Red means a NEO is connected but is not communicating properly.
If you’ve closed the
Control Bar on a
Windows computer
and you want to open it
again, you can click the
Window menu and choose
View Control Bar. You
cannot close the Control Bar
separately on Macintosh
computers.
