When the
Initializing...
message displays, press the DC On/Off button to turn the
system off. Unplug the AC power cords for each power supply and remove the top cover
and left-side panel as described in your system Owner’s Guide.
Reset the J1 jumper on the CPU module to its standard boot setting (bank 0 for either
AlphaServer 1000; Bank 1 for AlphaServer 1000A systems).
Reinstall the top cover and side panel as described in the system Owner’s Guide and
reconnect the AC power cords for each power supply.

The SRM and ARC firmware you just re-installed are executable only on a
4/xxx CPU module.

Power up the system.
Go to Chapter 4, the EISA Configuration Utility (ECU) must be run and some
environment variables need to be set.
