The Plug ‘n’ Play Secret Key is what should be entered into the phone.
After entering these two parameters into the phone, save the settings (the phone will automatically prompt
you when you exit out of the configuration menu) and then reboot the phone.
At this point the remote phone generally operates the same as any other phone on the server’s LAN
TIP: If this doesn’t seem to work, restore the phone’s factory defaults and re-apply the required settings.
14.3.2 Remote Phone Behind a Third Party Firewall
In the past all audio from remote phones went through the Allworx
server regardless of the configuration. With
the addition of the Force Remote phone audio through server option bandwidth can be conserved.
By default the checkbox is checked and remote phones work normal. The limitation with this simple setup is
bandwidth usage. All WAN-to-WAN calls use twice the bandwidth (180K) of normal LAN-to-WAN calls (90K).
This checkbox, located on the Server / VoIP server web page, has a Force audio through server flag that
causes Allworx
to proxy all the RTP packets for WAN-to-WAN calls. Proxies that are configured with RFC
3581 Symmetric Response Routing will override this flag since they can help the phone perform the NAT
traversal for the audio packets.
