Resetting and Disabling Router Settings
To return router settings to their defaults and disable routing
functions, use the commands listed in Table 8-7.

Router Reset and Disable Command
Command Description
clear iparp {<ipaddress> | vlan <name>} Removes dynamic entries in the IP ARP table.
Permanent IP ARP entries are not affected.
clear ipfdb {<ipaddress> <netmask> | vlan
<name>]
Removes the dynamic entries in the IP forwarding
database. If no options are specified, all IP FDB
entries are removed.
disable bootp vlan [<name> | all] Disables the generation and processing of BootP
packets.
disable bootprelay Disables the forwarding of BootP requests.
disable icmp redirects {vlan <name>} Disables the generation of ICMP redirects on one
or all VLANs.
disable icmp unreachables {vlan <name>} Disables the generation of ICMP unreachable
messages on one or all VLANs.
disable icmp useredirects Disables the changing of routing table
information when an ICMP redirect message is
received.
disable ipforwarding {vlan <name>} Disables routing for one or all VLANs.
disable ipforwarding broadcast {vlan
<name>}
Disables routing of broadcasts to other networks.
disable irdp {vlan <name>} Disables the generation of router advertisement
messages on one or all VLANs.
unconfig icmp Resets all ICMP settings to the default values.
unconfig irdp Resets all router advertisement settings to the
default values.
