1. Verify that the environmental temperature requires a fan.
2. If the temperature is high enough to require a fan(s), reseat the module.
3. Replace the module if necessary.
Alarms The following components are affected:
Component Status Alarm
FM4 Degraded Minor / Major
FM7 Degraded Minor / Major
FM8 Degraded Minor / Major
Note: Alarm is Minor if less than half the fans are not rotating properly and Major if
more than half the fans are not rotating properly.
2.10.3 Hardware Not Recognized
Message Fan Module Failure Raised
Severity Critical
Explanation A fan module has been inserted that the control module software
does not recognize. The fans may or may not be operating. If the
fans are not operating a shelf high temperature alarm may also be
raised.
Action Perform the following:
1. Check the fan module.
2. Check the control module software and see whether it needs to updated to a newer
release.

Severity Major
Explanation There is a temperature sensor on the FM4, each CFC, and each PSU.
(The FM4 has three.) Each sensor can report a High Temperature log
(PSU001 for the PSU, CARD005 for the CFC, and FAN001 for the FM4).
