1. If the CFC slot is the active CFC, wait until a low traffic period and perform a switch
of activity. Then perform the following steps that are for an inactive CFC. Perform the
next step only if the current step does not resolve the problem.
2. Restart the SM.
3. Reseat the SM.
4. Restart the inactive CFC
5. Reseat the inactive CFC.
6. Replace the SM.
7. Replace the inactive CFC.
8. If this does not resolve the problem, contact Allied Telesis support.

Severity Major
Explanation There is a control (messaging) link between each SM and each CFC
(one control link to the CFC in slot 4 and another control link to
the CFC in slot 5). The SM runs a polling audit on the link, and if
a control link is lost, the SM will report and include which slot
(4 or 5). If the link is to the inactive CFC, layer 1 is lost, but
switching traffic may not be affected. Also, if the control link
lost is to the active CFC, the CFC will reboot the SM to try to
resolve the problem.
Action Perform the following:
1. If the CFC slot is the active CFC, wait until a low traffic period and perform a switch
of activity. Then perform the following steps. Perform the next step only if the current
step does not resolve the problem.
2. Restart the SM.
3. Reseat the SM.
4. Restart the inactive CFC
5. Reseat the inactive CFC.
6. Replace the SM.
7. Replace the inactive CFC.
