5. NMS Logs
1 Overview
The AlliedView NMS allows network administrators to query and control both Allied Telesis and non-Allied
Telesis devices in their network. Moreover, there are two types of NSM products available;
• Service Provider - This includes all NMS features
• Enterprise Edition - The Enterprise Edition is introduced primarily for the smaller enterprise customer man-
aging a network of less than 100 devices. All features of the Service Provider Edition (SE) are supported in
the Enterprise Edition with the exception of customer provisioning of voice, video, and data services.

Since all NMS logs have the same category (NMS) and the concept of trap is not applicable, the logs are listed as
follows:
Type of NMS activity - This can be divided into these areas:
• Status Polling of Devices
• Discovery of Devices
• NMS Backup
• Device Backup
For each area, abbreviated log messages are listed, and each includes:
• Complete Log Message
• Severity
• Explanation
